Sawaieke District School is at Sawaieke on Gau Island, in the Lomaiviti Group, with 71 students and 4 teachers. Some of its students board at the school in two hostels. It is one of eight schools on Gau that we powered in 2026.

The school now has a 9 kW solar array and 39.6 kWh of battery storage, bringing 24-hour power to the classrooms, the teachers' homes and the hostels. A freezer for the hostels means food for the boarders can be stored safely.

The system is part of The Solar Fund (Fiji), which monitors it and pays for its servicing and repairs, so it keeps working long after the installers have gone.
