Sawau District School is in Dakuibeqa Village on Beqa Island. It has 87 students from kindergarten to Year 8, taught by 5 teachers.

Before solar, the school used a portable generator for limited power during the day. The teachers' homes, the hostels and the accommodation for boarders' families (who take turns each week to cook for the boarders) relied on a mix of small portable solar, kerosene lanterns and small generators. The 6.6 kW system we installed in 2023 gives all of them 24-hour power, and gives the school the valued option of night study.

A donor also gave the school a new LED data projector and 20 kg of library books on sustainability.
