South Taveuni Primary School sits beside South Taveuni Secondary School, south of Paradise Taveuni resort, and the two schools share one solar system. The primary school has 445 students and 19 teachers, and includes a special education class.
Our first system here, installed in 2015, powered the secondary school. In November 2022 we enlarged it to 15 kW so it could supply 24-hour power to both schools, with Clenergy as lead sponsor and CBS Power Solutions as our installation partner. Together the schools expected to save about A$17,000 a year, money they could put into computers and other resources.
In 2026 the system was upgraded again through the Australian Government's REnew Pacific program, to a 24 kW array with 79.2 kWh of battery storage.
The system is part of The Solar Fund (Fiji), which monitors it and pays for its servicing and repairs, so it keeps working long after the installers have gone.
