Wainikeli District School is at Wainikeli on Taveuni, with 179 students and 11 teachers.

In 2026 we installed a 12 kW solar array with 39.6 kWh of battery storage, giving the classrooms and teachers' homes power around the clock. Starlink internet, laptops and smart TVs came with it, opening up online learning for students and teachers. Wainikeli Secondary got its own system the same year.

The school was funded through the Australian Government's REnew Pacific program. The system is part of The Solar Fund (Fiji), which monitors it and pays for its servicing and repairs, so it keeps working long after the installers have gone.
