Yasawa South Secondary School is on Waya Lailai Island in the Yasawa Islands. It is a small secondary school, with 12 students and 5 teachers, next door to Namara Village School, and the two schools share one solar system.

In 2026 we installed a 13 kW solar array with 39.6 kWh of battery storage, bringing 24-hour power to the classrooms and teachers' homes of both schools. Starlink internet, laptops and smart TVs came with it, opening up online learning for students and teachers.

The school was funded through the Australian Government's REnew Pacific program. The system is part of The Solar Fund (Fiji), which monitors it and pays for its servicing and repairs, so it keeps working long after the installers have gone.
